I have programmed some midi scores with two tracks: one contains cc# midi commands to manage resolume and the another one contains CC# midi commands to manage both midi video switchers. The midi interface is for manage two midi video switcher of 4 input every one, so I can manage 8 live cameras and display two togheter in resolume. Connected to it, I have two USB video capture devices (easycap and Sveon), both work perfect, and one roland USB midi interface. I have a notebook HP Pavillion DV72015ES with windows 7 32 bit (4 GB ram), upgraded with a Intel SSD disk, not the fastest machine, but a decent one i guess. Still same problem.Īdded to the midi "madness" (resolume ignores ramdomly midi events), I have see that the performance (fps) drops after -+10 min. Only this two things gives to my visuals more professional look that Arkaos, but I NEED that Relolume can work smoothly with CC# midi commands that come through a internal midi port (some internal midi port, I do not care which one -until now I was using LoopBE1, but I would can use some other-) Well, I WANT to use Resolume for my show, I get much better and professional results becouse I can use custom masks for the live cameras, and I can stack some effects togheter (features absent on Arkaos). The result is that I had to quickly re-program the entire show for my Friday gig on Arkaos again It's really strange: on a fresh start of Resolume, it works perfectly, but when you take two or three sequences, it starts to ignore midi commands and not working properly. The problem is that even Resolume works perfectly with a midi controller (Behringer BCR2000), it ignores randomly some of the commands midi CC # that I send in the sequence through the internal midi port (LoopBE1). The whole show was pre-programmed song-by-song into a MIDI sequencer, and launched through an internal midi port (LoopBe1) to Resolume.įor this, I had previously used Arkaos GrandVJ without problems, but I wanted to migrate to Resolume, becouse it gives me more features for what I need. So hard to seriously blame the developers, it is more about passion then money. On Friday we had a performance with my funk band, which used a projection of audiovisual material and eight live cameras. The pathetic situation on VJ soft market is due to the small size as compared to audio. Some may find Module8 most suitable (Mac only). Tried Resolume avenue, might revisit it after a year or more, whenever they fix their sh., same with Grand, once they include what is missing from VJ midi might give it another try. The concept is of visual synth so easy to relate to. Grand is easy, specially for beginners while VJ Midi though pain to setup a show gives lots of advanced options, supports free frame and let me record live via firewire. I appreciate more the common sense and modesty of Ableton, they try their best but have limited means.Īrkaos has the worst GUI I ever known, is dog to program, setup but it has best visual quality and is rock solid. Easy to promise customers everything and deliver beta forever. Ableton attitude is way better, they included video that might be very basic but WORKS. It is silly ( I mean the developers childish attitude) )to think that would be so easy to crossover to audio, including VST etc. To the point regarding resolume., except the new one is even more unreliable. Maybe the new version will be more stable.Īrkaos seemed like a toy but clearly isnt once you get it running.īut indeed - what exactly IS the difference between GrandVJ and Arkaos Midi 3.6? Because there is no definitive atatement on the arkaos site or forum, just a lot of foot shuffling.i would like to know.
